Primary School (5 – 11 Years Old)
We have a dedicated and experienced team of teachers in our Primary School and our students receive devoted support in a happy and wholesome atmosphere. We recognise that ongoing assessment and adjustment are the key to improved performance and provide a solid education with a futuristic orientation where open mindedness and critical thinking is encouraged in the teaching and learning process.
The core subjects are taught by the classroom teacher while Art, Music, ICT, Physical Education and Modern Foreign Languages are taught by specialist teachers.
Since our aim is to foster all round development of our students, we also offer a broad range of co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. Our co-curricular programme exist to compliment what our students are learning in school, and with curriculum content in mind for each term, full day excursions are planned for each grade level. This term we have seen our Primary children taking part in athletic days at the stadium, trips to the National Museum and Zoo, picnics at Lake Gardens, and other curriculum related outings.
Activities offered in our extra-curricular programme include Football, Basketball, Push Hockey, Taekwondo, Karate, Art, Music (vocal and instrumental), Cookery and Science Club, Coding, Movie Making, Foreign Languages, Agama, and Literacy Hour. Drama and Props club this year has focused on preparation for the upcoming Primary Production of Jungle Book in May.
Key Stage 1: Primary 1 & 2
At this level, the students are aged between 5 to 7 years old. This is a crucial stage where students learn from first-hand experience and where good learning habits and skills develop. We focus on developing independent learners who are curious about the world around them and have a desire and motivation to explore and enquire.
With this in mind, our curriculum in Key Stage 1 contains units of learning based around exciting themes, adopted from the International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC) in Primary 1, and our own General Knowledge syllabus which touches on Geographical, Historical and Scientific concepts in Primary 2. Themes are supported by visits outside of the classroom where appropriate, and the subjects Art, ICT, PE, Music and Malay are also integrated into the class theme as much as possible. These subjects are taught by specialist teachers.
Maths and English are taught as discrete subjects following the Abacus and Cambridge Primary English curriculums respectively. Opportunities are taken within these subjects to support themes where necessary.
The rationale behind this thematic approach is that whilst it ensures that each child receives a broad and balanced curriculum, there is a cohesive link between many of the subject areas which we feel helps the children to gain a greater insight into a given topic.
Key Stage 2: Primary 3 to 6
From Primary 3 upwards, our emphasis is on the development of greater self-reliance. We encourage our learners to be confident communicators, to be creative, resourceful and inquisitive. Our curriculum incorporates the following subjects:-
|Foreign Language||For Malaysian Students|
|f||Information & Communication Technology|
|j||Speech & Drama|
